A showcase of the contributions of local artists who shape our city’s creative sector.

On Friday, November 4, 2022, Calgary’s Celebration of the Arts hosted by Mayor Jyoti Gondek arrived in the Jack Singer Concert Hall! A showcase of some of Calgary’s most diverse and talented artists, the Celebration of the Arts was a way for Calgarians to come together and commemorate the city’s local artists and performers. Combined with the showcase was a presentation of the Cultural Leaders Legacy Arts Awards (CLLAAs) where eight of the city’s cultural leaders were presented with an award in the categories of “Arts Leadership,” “Emerging Artist,” and “New Canadian Artist,” among others. Bird Creatives was honoured to be involved in the planning and execution of the celebration. The unique event brought diverse communities within the arts sector together and showcased their talents throughout the evening. 

One of the key activities that we assisted with is the coordination and production of the Calgary Leaders Legacy Arts Award video messages. The CLLAAs are funded by a contribution from a local philanthropist or organization with matching money from Calgary Arts Development. Working with Nur Films, Bird Creatives coordinated the juries for each award and produced the CLLAA videos. We filmed in locations such as The Calgary Central Library, Platform Calgary, The National Music Centre, Arts Commons, Jack Singer Concert Hall Lobby, cSPACE, and The Calgary Zoo – venues that represent the arts, innovation, and growth within our vibrant city.

Bird Creatives was also an Accessibility Sponsor and hosted some of our clients at our sponsor table. The evening was a great success and concluded with a fabulous dance party hosting stilt walkers, balloons drifting from the ceiling, and tasty food and drinks.
