First FLIP Pancake Breakfast

Bird Creatives is excited to announce that we will be taking part in the First FLIP Pancake Breakfast! A free-to-attend event on Stephen Ave., this annual community tradition marks the inaugural “flip” of Stampede. Not your ordinary Stampede Breakfast, this event will feature some of Alberta’s best local musicians including Red Hot Hayseed, Emily Triggs, Justine Vandergrift, Liz Christensen, as well as entertainment by Green Fools and Chinook Country Line Dancers.

You don’t want to miss this free event this Thursday, July 8 at Stephen Avenue Walk (130 9th Ave. SE). Connect with community members and civic leaders in the spirit of Stampede. Check out all the deets here.

Stampede Pow Wow – July 12-14

For the first time, the Calgary Stampede will be hosting a Pow Wow! From July 12-14 there will be an intense competition of dancing, drumming, singing, and other performances from the best Indigenous performers across Canada and the United States. Performers will be competing for $175k in prize money during three days of competition. That’s three days to witness a vast and diverse gathering of Indigenous culture!

New Coke Stage

For years, the Coca-Cola Stage or simply the “Coke Stage,” has been a staple at the Stampede, providing festival-goers with free and accessible outdoor concerts from local, niche, and even well-known artists. The cozy and familiar concrete stage which sat right at the end of the gondolas, between the BMO Centre and the Big Four Roadhouse, was a familiar sight and a reliable rest spot for those who wanted to touch grass after a day of rides and walks along hot concrete. However, with a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic and the looming expansion of the BMO Centre, demolition was inevitable. In late 2021, the Coke Stage was knocked down and the future of this beloved stampede tradition was uncertain.

Thankfully, the Coke Stage is making an unexpected return with a new location and an exciting lineup for 2022!

From the Stampede’s 2022 interactive map, the new Coke Stage can be found along the Elbow River in the southwest corner of the grounds. Some of the performers to expect for this year include Milky Chance, Carly Rae Jepsen, Kaskade and Alessa Clara! Be sure to check out the full lineup here.

On behalf of Bird Creatives, we hope you all have a happy Stampede!
